Senior Pastor

Barry’s ministry is shaped by his a passion for dynamic worship, spiritual formation, and hands-on mission. He came to Trinity in the summer of 2007 from East Heights United Methodist Church in Wichita and brings with him a background in youth and campus ministry. Barry is married to Diana and they have two children, Amy and Kyle. When not at the church he enjoys participating in sports of all kind and is often pre-occupied with his beloved Kansas City Chiefs. Barry believes in the unconditional love of God and a church that is open to all people. Rev. Michelle Gowin Rev. Michelle Gowin
Associate Pastor
Michelle graduated from the Iliff School of Theology in Denver, Colorado. As Associate Pastor she is also bringing a new role to our church: Youth Minister for youth grade 6 and older. Pastor Michelle is a native Kansan, growing up near Wichita with an older brother. She revealed that her brother is a musician in Wichita currently. Several interesting “tidbits” about our Associate Pastor are her 2 cats, Molly and Eliot, who may or may not share her love of the outdoors since she is into skiing, hiking, canoeing, camping, and healthy eating. Pastor Michelle can be reached at the church (826-5270) ext 114, home: 785-404-6684, or by email michelle@triumc.org
Tammy Dees

Tammy Dees
Director of Christian Education
Up to Grade 5 and Adult

Tammy came to Trinity the summer of 2007 as the Christian Education Director for Children and Adults. Tammy has served several churches in Kansas as a Christian Educator. In her spare time she enjoys music, a good movie, reading mystery novels and spending time with her husband Darrel and their two sons Adam and Paul. Her desire is to empower volunteers as leaders and participants toward vibrant, relevant faith experiences through the Sunday School, small groups and special events. Gayle McMillen

Gayle McMillen
Director of Music

Born in Clearwater, Kansas, Gayle is a graduate of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. He received a Master of Music Education from Wichita State University. Gayle is retired from a career in teaching and now enjoys spending time doing volunteer work. Gayle is married to Jane and they have two daughters, Jennifer and Katy. Gayle has been providing music for Trinity since 1973. 

Jane McMillen

Jane McMillen
Assoc. Director of Music

Born in Clearwater, Kansas, Jane is a graduate of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas. She received a Master of Curriculum and Instruction from Kansas State University. She is retired from a career in teaching and now enjoys spending time doing volunteer work. Jane is married to Gayle. They have two daughters, Jennifer and Katy. Jane has been providing music at Trinity since 1973. 

Joyce Tonne

Joyce Tonne
Choir Director

Born in El Dorado, Kansas, Joyce is a graduate of Kansas State University with a major in Business Administration and a minor in Music. She majored in music later at Marymount College. Joyce taught piano for eighteen years. She has three grandchildren, Tera, Curtis and Jessica.

Velma Howie Velma Howie
Parish Nurse

Velma and her husband Edward have been members of Trinity for many years, but in 2007 Velma joined the staff as the Parish Nurse.  Velma is a graduate of the Asbury School of Nursing (now known as SRHC), as a registered nurse and worked many years at Asbury, then in Home Health, the Clinic, and as a travel nurse.  Parish nursing has brought a new dimension to her career.  Nurses have long observed that when illness or brokenness occurs, patients & families may turn to their source of spiritual strength for reassurance, support, and healing.  Velma’s background in nursing has allowed her to see that Parish Nursing is a unique blending of professional nursing and spiritual care-giving.  When Velma is not engaged in nursing, she enjoys gardening, sports events, & traveling with Ed.

Shari Murray

Shari Murray
Financial Secretary

Born in Frankfurt, Germany, Shari graduated from McPherson School of Practical Nursing. She has also completed courses in Quick Books and Excel at Salina Area Technical School. Sandy Jenkins Sandy Jenkins
Part-time Secretary
Sandy was born and raised in Salina, KS. Moved to Hays and started her first job when her youngest was 7 years of age. Work experience included 20 years at Baxter-Travenol Labs., Inc., Hays, KS, (employed 1,200 people and plant closed in 1986), followed by 13 years with the FDIC in Dallas, TX. While living in Hays, raised three children (Greg, Terrol, & Jeff), attended some evening classes at Fort Hays State University, and a PTA officer, Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader for 32 girls. While living in Dallas, was a member of Toastmasters for the last two years while there. When Sandy retired from the FDIC, Dallas, she moved to San Diego, CA, to live close to her youngest son Jeff, and also became very active with the Girl Scouts (32,000 girls in San Diego County) while living there. Returned to Salina in 2001, to be a caretaker for some family members and still assists her daughter-in-law that has MS when she can. She now lives in an all one-level apartment with her dog Tyne and a cat named Grace. She has one grandson that she spends as much time as possible with. She came to Trinity the spring of 2007 and has been assisting in the office with whatever needs to be done.
Don Peterson

Don Peterson
Treasurer
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Don graduated from Kansas University with a B.S. in Business Administration, a M.S. in Accounting, and received his CPA Certificate from the State of Kansas. His career in corporate accounting included holding positions of Controller, Treasurer, and V.P. of Finance. He also worked several years as a CPA for the local CPA firms Kennedy & Coe and Clubine & Rettele. Don is married to Pat (44 years). They have two children, Ronald and Susan, and they also have five grandchildren.  E-Mail: donpat1962 at yahoo.com
