We are looking forward to the day we can all be together. For safety reasons, Sunday School is not offered during the pandemic. In the absence of face to face Sunday School, you are invited to a monthly drive thru for children and youth. Typically on a Sunday afternoon, families of children & youth are invited to drive thru the east parking lot of Trinity UMC. A series of three or four stops will be provided. A take home activity or snack will be given to you through your car window at each stop. Every volunteer is masked and hand sanitizing will be practiced. Drive Thru’s are centered on theme’s that encourage children and youth to remember God loves them and has a purpose for their lives. For more information contact Education Director, Tammy Dees at through the Contact Us page or call the church office at 785 852 5270. Everyone is welcome!
Preschool and Elementary Children:
LEARNING THROUGH A LENS OF WONDER
Celebrate Wonder is a Sunday school curriculum that engages children’s natural sense of curiosity to help them understand God’s love. It creates a safe environment for kids to ask big questions — helping them explore the Bible in ways that feed their imagination and encourages creativity. Through carefully-selected Bible stories, songs, videos, and hands-on activities, Celebrate Wonder gives children the tools to explore their faith while incorporating it into their daily lives. A short bible story and scripture is experienced each week. Each of these bible stories combine throughout the year to paint a larger picture of our faith story from both the Old and New Testaments.
4th & 5th grade Sunday School uses all types of learning styles to help the meaning of the bible come alive: Art, Cooking, Games, Music/Movement, Science, Storytelling, Video, Drama.
Imagine a Sunday school classroom where children examine Van Gogh’s Starry Night and paint their own version while discussing God’s promise to Abram when God said, “Look at the sky and try to count the stars; you will have as many descendants as that.” (Genesis 15:5, Good News)
Or enter a room where children are playing the “Laughing Game.” The teacher reminds the children how elderly Abraham and Sarah laughed when God told them they would have a baby named Isaac or laughter.
And can you imagine visiting the church kitchen for Sunday school class? That’s where some children are making the kinds of food that might have been served when Abraham held a feast when Isaac was weaned (Genesis 21:8).
Currently unavailable. When we are able to meet in the building again face to face, your child will find an opportunity to participate in this free after school program for 1st – 5th grade children. Homework session, games, crafts, science, cooking, music, bible stories, field trips, service projects and more. Thursday afternoons after school.
Acolytes lead us in worship by lighting the candles at the beginning of worship to remind us of God’s presence and then to lead us out into the world at the end of the service to remind us that God goes with us. The acolytes are in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. Training is available throughout the year for anyone interested. For more information contact the church office at 825-5270.
